Rieker Canada SMS Program — Mobile Terms of Service
These Mobile Terms of Service (“Mobile Terms”) govern your participation in the Rieker Canada text-message program. Please read them carefully before signing up. These Mobile Terms are specific to our SMS program and are separate from our general Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By signing up for our text-message program, you agree to these Mobile Terms.
1. About This Program
Rieker Canada’s text-message program is operated by Rieker Shoe Canada LTD (“Rieker Canada,” “we,” “us”) through our messaging platform, Attentive Mobile Inc. (“Attentive”). We designed the program to comply with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), and the Canadian wireless carriers’ A2P messaging program rules.
2. Program Description
When you opt in, you consent to receive recurring automated marketing messages from Rieker Canada at the mobile phone number you provided. Messages may include:
- Promotions, sale announcements, and exclusive offers;
- New arrivals and restock notifications;
- Cart reminders (messages about items you left in your shopping cart);
- Personalized recommendations and content;
- Occasional surveys and program updates.
Consent is not a condition of any purchase. You can browse and buy on rieker.ca without joining our SMS program.
3. Eligibility
To join our SMS program, you must be:
- At least 18 years of age;
- A resident of Canada with a Canadian mobile phone number;
- Using your own mobile phone (or a phone you are authorized to use for this purpose).
The program is intended for Canadian residents on Canadian wireless carriers. International messaging is not supported.
4. Message Frequency
Recurring automated marketing messages. Message frequency varies. You may receive multiple messages per week during promotional periods and fewer messages during quiet periods.
5. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. Check with your wireless carrier for details of your plan. We do not charge you to receive our messages, but your carrier may.
6. HELP
Reply HELP to any message in our program and you will receive an automated reply with program information and contact details. You can also contact us any time:

7. STOP / Opting Out
You can unsubscribe at any time. Reply STOP to any marketing SMS from Rieker Canada. You will receive one confirmation message and then no further marketing messages from this program.
- No cost. There is no fee to opt out (CASL s. 11(1)(a)).
- No further action required. A single STOP reply is enough (CASL s. 11(1)).
- Processed without delay. We process opt-out requests without delay and, in any event, no later than 10 business days after you send STOP (CASL s. 11(3)).
- Other keywords. UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT are treated the same as STOP.
- Re-subscribing. If you change your mind, you can re-subscribe at any time by re-entering your number through one of our sign-up forms.
If you are having trouble opting out, email customerservice.ca@rieker.net and we will remove you manually.
8. Supported Carriers
Supported Canadian carriers include Rogers, Bell, Telus, Freedom Mobile, SaskTel, Videotron, Koodo, Virgin Plus, Fido, Chatr, and Public Mobile, and other Canadian carriers participating in A2P messaging. The program may not operate on all carriers at all times.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery depends on the recipient’s carrier and device and is provided on a best-effort basis.
9. Privacy
How we collect, use, and share personal information in connection with the SMS program is governed by our Privacy Policy. In summary:
- We collect your mobile phone number, the time and form of your opt-in, your IP address at opt-in, and the exact text of the consent copy you agreed to. This record supports CASL s. 13 burden of proof.
- We use your phone number and activity to send you the messages described in Section 2 above and to measure program performance.
- We do not share, sell, or transfer text-message originator opt-in data or consent to any third party for their own purposes. Your phone number and your SMS consent are handled by Attentive solely on our behalf.
- If you are a resident of Quebec, you have additional rights under Law 25, including the right to access, correct, portability, and de-indexing of your personal information. See our Privacy Policy Section 9.
10. Changes to the Program and These Terms
We may update these Mobile Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will:
- Update the Last updated date at the top of this page;
- Post a visible notice on rieker.ca; and
- Where the change materially affects subscribers’ consent, notify current subscribers by SMS and/or email before the change takes effect.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the SMS program at any time. Continued participation after a material change means you accept the updated Mobile Terms; if you do not agree, reply STOP.

- Escalation to regulators: see our Privacy Policy, Section 14.2 for the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, and the CRTC.
12. Governing Law
These Mobile Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, including CASL and PIPEDA. If you are a resident of Quebec, Quebec’s Law 25 also applies to how we handle your personal information. Consumer-protection laws of your home province may also apply where they provide greater rights than these Mobile Terms.
