Rieker was founded in Tuttlingen, Germany in 1874. Since then, our passion has been the development and production of stylish men's and women's shoes with maximum comfort. Through steady growth, we have been able to expand our export business since the early 20th century with foreign agencies and subsidiaries.
Today, our brands Rieker and remonte are represented internationally, and we are one of the leading shoe manufacturers in Europe. Rieker is now in its sixth generation of family ownership. We currently employ around 23,000 people worldwide. The remonte brand has complemented our range of high-quality women's shoes since 2002.
Rieker Canada was established in 1995. Our corporate office and distribution centre is in Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario, where our team supports the brand's product range for Canadian retailers and shoppers.

Our corporate philosophy is based on experience drawn from our 150-year company history. Tradition and craftsmanship in shoe manufacturing are integral parts of our identity — our "Rieker DNA".
Consistency, loyalty, trust, and fairness are among our core values. They form the foundation for our decisions and our actions. We are innovative, dynamic, and flexible. Our philosophy is to keep developing in an agile way and, as a stable company with many years of experience, to simultaneously draw on our roots.
Code of Conduct
Social responsibility
A Code of Conduct for social responsibility plays an important role for the shoe and leather industry producing and selling its products worldwide. This is reflected in a Code of Conduct which has been adopted by the Board of Management of the shoe and leather industry, to which we at Rieker commit ourselves entirely.
Rieker is also a member of CADS — a cooperation of the German Shoe Institute — which focuses on the subject of pollutants in shoes and is engaged in the avoidance of harmful substances. For further information please visit www.cads-shoes.com.
